Is watercolor good for beginners?

Yes. It's one of the most forgiving mediums to start with. You can lift and soften colors while they're wet, and small paintings come together quickly, so you see a finished piece the same day you begin.

What's the best watercolor paper for beginners?

Cold press paper, 140 lb (300 gsm) or heavier. Cold press has a gentle texture that's easy to paint on, and the heavier weight keeps it from buckling when it gets wet. A mid-range pad is all you need.

Do you need special brushes for watercolor?

One good round brush in a size 6 will carry you a long way. Look for a brush that holds a point at the tip and springs back when you press it. Add a smaller size 2 or 0 later for fine details.

Can you fix mistakes in watercolor?

Often, yes. While the paint is wet, rinse your brush and dry it, then lift the color by dabbing it up and blotting with a paper towel. Even dried paint will sometimes lift if you gently scrub with a clean, damp brush.
